Celtic Connections 2024

Glasgow-based CLR theory bring their powerful vocal harmonies to the cosy surrounds of The Glad Cafe. The band, comprising Gill Higgins and Hannah Jarret-Scott, launched their self-recorded, self-produced debut album WAVES to a sold-out Celtic Connections crowd in January 2023. The record, bubbling with sumptuous string arrangements, triumphant bass, grounding synth and harmonium drones, began life as a comforting lockdown project. It was subsequently named Record of Note by Roddy Hart (BBC Radio Scotland) the week of its release. “A warm sonic hug of an album that would perfectly soundtrack an evening by the fire with the chill of winter howling and wailing outside.” (The Skinny)

In support is Nicole Cassandra Smit, an Edinburgh-based Swedish singer/songwriter who blends her smokey voice and country ballad lyrics with RnB hooks and soulful harmonies. One of the most versatile names in the Scottish blues scene, Nicole released her first album, Third In Line, in July 2022.
