California-born singer-songwriter and guitarist Jesca Hoop was discovered by Tom Waites and brought on tour by Peter Gabriel to sing in his band, but it was a call from Elbow’s Guy Garvey which saw her move to the UK. Hoop’s sixth album, Order of Romance – her most intricate, finely balanced album to date – fortifies her position as one of the most striking, original voices in contemporary music. Drawing on classic song-writing, it examines some of the biggest themes and issues of our time from a personal perspective, and explores how to find meaning in a world in which so much is disconnected and discordant.
Michael and Michelle is actor and musician duo Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey, Anatomy of a Scandal, The Gentlemen) and Michael Fox (Downton Abbey, Dunkirk.) They began singing and writing together between scenes on set, their sound taking influence from The Civil Wars and Angus and Julia Stone. Their first, self-penned EP The Watching Silence was recorded with Iain Grimble (Mumford and Sons, Bearsden) and released in May 2022 on Decca. They are currently recording their debut album for release in 2024, and a film based on their music, performed by and starring both actors, is currently in development.
