Matt McGinn was a prolific songwriter who was born in Gallowgate, Glasgow in 1928 and was a huge part of the folk revival in the 1960's. He worked as a teacher but was also an actor, playwright and poet. He wrote songs throughout his life for adults and children alike and drew inspiration from his Glasgow upbringing. Some of his most famous children's songs are: Jeely piece song, Skinny malinky long legs, Dundee ghost and the red yo yo. Sadly Matt McGinn passed away in 1977, aged just 49 but has left a wealth of great songs and literature behind him.

The workshop will be based around the children's songs of Matt McGinn for all ages.
