Line-Up Announced for Dandelion Festival Inverness

This September, join Dandelion for a major free music and arts festival with live music programmed by Celtic Connections Creative Director Donald Shaw.

Dandelion is a creative programme bringing together growing, science, art and music for a series of events and activities across Scotland in 2022. After the success of the first Festival in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park in June, Dandelion now heads north to Inverness.

The Festival will take over Northern Meeting Park for three days with a line-up featuring Scottish rock-band Del Amitri, Malian desert blues group Songhoy Blues, singer/songwriter King Creosote, rock, funk, soul and hip-hop group Tank and the Bangas, and a celebration of music, literature, language and art from The Lost Words whose Spell Songs project calls for us all to reawaken our love of nature and the wild.

There will also be performances from Dallahan, one of the most distinct forces in international folk music, Sona Jobarteh, Gambian kora virtuoso, singer songwriter Nati Dreddd, Nordic folksters Dreamers’ Circus, former BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Hannah Rarity, the Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton Trio, Scott Matthews and folk musician Hamish Napier whose recent album The Woods is a tribute to the stories and heritage of his native Highlands, plus Scotland’s National Youth Pipe Band and Acibreira.

Eclectic ensemble Kefaya & singer Elaha Soroor, trad band Cala, Irish quintet Goitse and singer/songwriter Siobhan Miller complete the line-up.

The music will take place across two stages with a 10m high “living” Pavilion of plant life as the backdrop to the main stage. Alongside the music there’ll be performances, talks from writers, artists, farmers, and growers, speaking on sustainability, land management and our changing relationship with nature, plus workshops and hands-on activities in a series of Dandelion Potting Sheds. Plus interactive and inspiring activities for children of all ages. Fabulous food and drink, locally sourced from ethical and sustainably minded producers and vendors will also be available on site throughout the event.
