Sheherazaad

Sheherazaad invites audiences into a spellbinding world where folklore, memory and resistance unfold through song. Blending dystopic folk-noir, experimental pop and South Asian musical traditions, her music creates a richly cinematic atmosphere filled with haunting melodies, poetic storytelling and unexpected sonic textures. Expect intricate arrangements that weave together instruments such as santoor, veena, rabab and tabla with breath, field recordings and immersive layers of sound, transporting listeners between imagined landscapes and lived experience.

Drawing from her acclaimed debut album Khudgarzi, Sheherazaad brings to life a cast of vivid characters whose stories explore identity, belonging and feminine agency, delivered with both intimacy and dramatic flair. Sung primarily in Urdu, with touches of English and Tamil, the performance offers an evocative and emotionally resonant journey that transcends language. In the warmth of the festival setting, this promises a captivating late-winter encounter with one of contemporary music’s most distinctive emerging voices.
