Hebridean storytelling, Gaelic roots and country-folk from an island voice

Norrie 'Tago' MacIver is a singer-songwriter from Carloway on the Isle of Lewis, whose music brings together his Hebridean roots, Gaelic heritage and a love of country music. With a powerful, distinctive voice and a natural gift for storytelling, his songs reflect the people, places and experiences that have shaped his life.

A founding member of Bodega and Mànran, Norrie went on to spend nine years as lead singer of Skipinnish, performing to audiences across Scotland and beyond. Now pursuing his solo career, he brings that wealth of experience to performances filled with heartfelt songs, warmth and humour. His album, Roots Beneath, features twelve original songs in English and Gaelic, exploring family, love, island life and the enduring pull of home.

From the weaving heritage of his father and grandfather to life with his wife and four sons, these are deeply personal stories with themes that reach far beyond the islands. For this festival appearance, Norrie will be joined by his full band, bringing the songs of Roots Beneath to life with rich arrangements and an energetic live sound. Expect a blend of country, folk and Gaelic song, with heartfelt storytelling and his unmistakable island voice at the centre.
