Bringing together two true titans of Irish music, this rare duo encounter between fiddler Frankie Gavin and accordionist Máirtín O’Connor, equally renowned as tradition-bearers and innovators, promises a wealth of pure-drop virtuosity. While Gavin’s name is forever associated with De Dannan, the iconic and groundbreaking group he formed in 1974, his current projects range from the Flanagan Brothers-inspired Roaring 20s Irish Orchestra, to the trio KGB, with Paddy Keenan and Dermot Byrne. O’Connor’s supreme technical mastery and signature joie de vivre have featured both on a string of seminal solo albums and in line-ups including Boys of the Lough, Skylark and the Riverdance Orchestra.

Continuing the fertile musical exploration that began with Danish duo Emma Elmøe (fiddle) and Villads Hoffmann (cittern), Stundom adds pianist Julian Svejgaard Jørgensen to the mix. Along with exquisite technical flair, the trio’s new compositions and adventurous arrangements, inspired by traditional dance tunes, also reflect their diverse backgrounds in folk, classical and prog metal music.
