Blues Night: Buffalo Nichols and Muireann Bradley

The self-produced follow-up to his 2021 s/t debut LP for Fat Possum–a critically acclaimed record that earned him his network television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and more. The Fatalist sounds unlike any blues record you’re likely to hear in 2023.

The stakes throughout this album are largely personal, rather than social; Nichols is singing about his life in the first person, and about his desire to forge his own individuality in a world and a music industry that make it nearly impossible to do so.

Muireann Bradley is a 16 year old finger picking guitar player & singer from County Donegal. She performs Country Blues & Ragtime Blues from the 1920s & 30s, also Folk, Roots and Americana. She grew up with her father listening to these old records and playing and singing the music himself. When she was nine years old she asked him to teach her to play and so her love of guitar began. During the covid lockdowns she decided to start posting videos on You Tube. She was soon contacted by Josh Rosenthal of Tompkins Square Records who suggested she record an album which is now due for release in December 2023 entitled I kept these old blues.
