Celtic Connections 2024
One of Scotland’s most renowned and celebrated folk groups, Blazin’ Fiddles return to Celtic Connections in a blaze of glory. Formed for a one-off tour of the Scottish Highlands in 1999, the band are still at it 25 years later.
This special performance celebrates the release of their tenth album, XXV. Encompassing a rare selection of the fiddle’s diverse Highland and island voices, the band’s four-fiddle frontline of Bruce MacGregor, Jenna Reid, Rua Macmillan, and Kristan Harvey ignites atop accompaniment from Anna Massie and Angus Lyon. Expect all the power, passion and sensitivity of Scotland’s music packed into a single, unforgettable show.
Support comes from singer and bouzouki player Daoirí (pronounced ‘Derry’) Farrell. Described as one of most important singers to come out of Ireland in recent years, Daoirí won two prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Traditional Track in 2017. He is joined by Mark Redmond (uilleann pipes) and Niall Preston (bodhran) as the Daoirí Farrell Trio.
