Edinburgh based Flautist and Multi-Instrumentalist Tom Oakes (Ross Couper and Tom Oakes, OBT) Recorded his debut solo album ‘Water Street’  in isolation in the sublime acoustic spaces of the 17c Lambs House in Leith. What initially was some 40+ tracks recorded over 5 months became distilled into an album and augmented with textures both instrumental, electronic and found.

Musically Tom explores the very roots of his playing juxtaposed with where he is now as a musician and sound designer with ‘Pure’ Irish Traditional music sitting alongside extended improvisations, sampling and forays into the contemporary classical. Tonight the album is re-imagined for Celtic Connections with a full band including leading Scottish Jazz Guitarist Graeme Stephen and more guests to be announced.
