Celebrating the release in autumn 2021 of Greentrax Recordings’ Hamish Henderson Tribute Vol 2 - Ballad of the Banffies, many of the featured singers and musicians reunite for this live performance. Where the new album’s predecessor, 2003’s A’ The Bairns O Adam, mainly collected existing versions of Henderson’s songs, Vol 2 focuses on newly recorded material, again researched and musically arranged by the late great folkorist and poet’s longtime friend and colleague, Dr Fred Freeman. The vocal line-up includes Fiona Hunter (Malinky), John Morran (Deaf Shepherd) and young Aberdonian singer Cameron Nixon, expertly accompanied by Marc Duff, Angus Lyon, Richard Werner, Euan McLaughlin and Frank McLaughlin.
