Over 10,000 children and young people took part in our Education programme as part of the 2016 Celtic Connections festival.  This series of free concerts and workshops are designed to engage children and young people in traditional music.

The Schools Concerts showcase some of the best artists taking part in the main festival.  For many of the children attending this is their first experience of live music.

“Yesterday the children and staff attended the Rura concert in the Royal Concert Hall.  Today the children haven't stopped talking about it.  The concert was wonderful and it was a fabulous experience for the children and a first experience of live music for many. “ Nursery Teacher, Glasgow

Our workshops and school visits are delivered to nursery, primary and additional needs schools.  They are completely inclusive and accessible to children and young people with a range of support needs and those for whom English is not their first language.

“Many of our pupils find crowds and large spaces a challenge and often miss out on musical and theatrical events. We are hugely appreciative for this opportunity.   It was lovely to see so many happy children who now want to become harpists!” Toryglen Autism Unit

The Education Programme supports our commitment to sustaining and developing the profile of traditional music and culture by engaging children and young people in this incredible festival.
