Celtic Connections Education Concerts : Alison Brown with Joe Craven
Friday 1st February 2008, 11.00am
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall : Auditorium
Please Note: This event is now past.
Grammy Award winner Alison Brown has achieved an international reputation as a banjo player by pushing the instrument into new musical territory. Her unique voice and expertise in this relatively unexplored instrument means she has caught the attention of fans of traditional and jazz-hued acoustic music.
She will be joined by Joe Craven, a whirling dervish of percussion madness, mandolin expressionism and fiddle fever. He describes himself as a madman with anything that has strings attached including violins, mandolins and banjos. He can also be seen playing tin cans, umbrella stands, fire extinguishers and even waste paper bins!
The concert will also feature clarsach player Rachel Hair's trio and The Hoose Band, comprising some of the fine musicians who deliver our school workshop programme.
Suggested stages: P4-S2
