With their stirring vocals and genre-defining songs of the Hebrides, the legendary cult Gaelic folk group Na h-Oganaich come together again for their first performance in Glasgow for 30 years.
Widely credited with reviving interest in Gaelic music in the ’70s, Na h-Oganaich (Young Blood) influenced many musicians who followed in the footsteps of their three seminal records, including Capercallie and Runrig.
Crasdant comprise four of Wales’ most outstanding musicians, all with highly credited individual careers, who came together a few years ago to bring to centre stage the indigenous Welsh harp, the triple harp, played by its leading exponent, Robin Huw Bowen. The melodies are carried by the fiddle and flutes of Stephen Rees, and Andy McLauchlin, who combine on certain tunes, to play the pibgorn – an ancient Welsh reed instrument. Underpinning and interweaving with the harp is the deft guitar accompaniment of Huw Williams. Crasdant concert goers can expect a thoroughly entertaining evening where superb music is lifted to another plane through the artistry of the musicians involved and their uniquely Welsh humour.
In association with An Lòchran, Glasgow’s Gaelic arts organisation.
