Accordionist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and broadcaster – Phil Cunningham is well known to Scottish music lovers across the world.
From his pioneering early days with Silly Wizard and Relativity, to his solo work and his celebrated long-time partnership with Shetland fiddler Aly Bain, Phil ranks among the celtic world’s best-loved artists, honoured in 2002 with an MBE for services to Scottish music. Celebrating 30 years in the music business, expect a galaxy of stars to join Phil in performing some of his best loved work including The Ship and The Big Picnic.
The line-up includes the ScottishPower Pipe Band, charismatic singer from Cherish The Ladies – Heidi Talbot and fiddler John McCusker and Irish accordion wizard Máirtín O’Connor. A certain other famous fiddler may even make an appearance!
Dòchas are the opening act this evening. The celebrated Gaelic singing of Julie Fowlis fronts a five-strong vocal line-up, allied to a sparkling array of instrumental talents.
